A Letter from Scott & Randy

Dear Listeners, (and The Family and Friends of Our Listeners), (and their friends and family and so forth and so on, etc. etc. ad infinitum),

First of all, we would like to thank you for your support of the musical community here in Portland, being a part of Scott & Randy - The Podcast, and helping us get launched in the right direction. Without you taking a chance on us, we would not have been able to take this chance ourselves. The consistently high level of talent we have been able to feature on the program has been invaluable in providing legitimacy to what we are trying to do, as well as providing listeners like you with an internet program where you know you are going to receive a quality product each and every time you listen. And without a quality product, we would not be able to grow our listener base and achieve our goal of providing enhanced exposure to the musicians and music community here in Portland.

As you know, Scott & Randy - The Podcast was an idea conceived several months ago with the goal of providing local, national, and worldwide new media exposure to the immense wealth of musical talent we have here in Portland. It is our belief that the bevy of world-class talent that calls Portland home is far greater than most people would believe. Our job as podcasters and pioneers in this new media is to enlighten the world as to what we have here. We believe that it is good for Portland, and ultimately and most importantly good for local musicians and our local musical community in general. If we can do our part to generate excitement about music here in town, it will in turn provide more avenues and opportunities for the artists, and enrich all of our lives. This is our sincere hope.

The response we have had to the show has been one of welcome. From the beginning it seemed as though everybody we presented the idea to liked it and thought it was a great cause. The feedback we have received has been very positive and our listener numbers continue to grow. As the listener base grows, so to does the exposure we are able to give these musical artists. This is the reason we are writing you this letter at this time.

We have just recently been made aware that the Third Annual Portland Music Awards are in the nomination and voting phase. This voting window opened on October 1st, and runs only until November 15th. Scott & Randy - The Podcast wants your vote. And the votes of your family, friends, fans etc. Since podcasting is still referred to as new media, and since there is no other show like ours, who's sole focus is to advance the careers of local musicians and the local music scene in general, we are somewhat pioneers in this area. Scott & Randy - The Podcast is entirely self funded, self produced, self promoted. We built and maintain a high quality website that continues to grow as a musical and informational archive and resource. It is a solely focused labor of love.

For this reason, we ask for your vote in the “Pioneer Award” category. Please write in "Scott & Randy - The Podcast". And we also ask that you use your networking capability to request your friends and family to also vote for us. Granted, it is a grass roots effort, but it is an important one, and one that can ultimately help us all in our effort to make Portland an even better place to live and strengthen our musical community.

To be honest, we really do not expect to win the category. There are people with long careers here in Portland making a difference. But just to be nominated or mentioned among these great nominees would provide our show quite a large amount of additional exposure which will be good for all while providing us with the feeling that we are truly doing something valuable and making a positive contribution to our great music community.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you very much for your consideration in this matter. We truly appreciate it. The link to the voting page is provided below.

Thanks again, we wish you the best , and we'll see you around!

Labor Day Update!

Happy Labor Day everybody! Just a little shout out from your bestest buddies and old pals, Scott and Randy.
As it is Labor Day, we would be remiss in our duties as legendary powerhouse podcasters, if we were not to inform you of today's Labor Day Scott & Randy Fan-o-thon. Our goal for the day is clear cut and simple. If each of our Facebook fans recruits just one new fan today, we will easily ascend to well over the century mark and qualify for a shorter link to our Facebook fan page. Please help us in our valiant effort to achieve this lofty, yet easily attainable goal. Make this Labor Day a Labor Day to remember by participating in the Labor Day Scott & Randy Fan-o-thon. You will feel that much better on the inside, and your family and friends will be proud.

Moving on to birthday news, Scott & Randy - the Podcast is just over one month old now. Thanks for being with us the whole time, many of you since we were just a zygote. In any case, in our short month of existence, we have managed to garner the attention of the Mayor of Portland, Sam Adams. The Mayor himself is now following us on Twitter. We like to believe that we, (Scott and Randy) are making a positive and measurable contribution to the city of Portland, and in fact the surrounding communities. We feel the Mayor realizes that it behooves him and his staff to keep abreast of the happenings pertaining to Scott & Randy. We also feel that it would behoove you as well, so go now, and follow us at http://www.twitter.com/scottandrandy

Tonight we are looking forward to having Lisa Mann in the studio. Check out what she has to say, and what she has to play, when you listen to our upcoming Sept 15 show. We know we owe you guys a good one.

That's all for now, enjoy your day and the upcoming week, we'll talk soon ok?

Breaking News

This Just In...

Scientists have just discovered a huge hole in the podzone layer. The results of this hole have been devestating, causing a complete and systemic breakdown in the podosphere. This systemic breakdown has resulted in the unfortunate inability for Scott & Randy to produce their next show which was scheduled for release on September 1, 2009.

We realize this may cause a great inconvenience to our loyal listeners worldwide, and we offer our extreme and most sincere apologies, however, I believe it is easy to see that this was caused by factors that were clearly out of our control.

In any case, regulatory controls and policies have been drafted and put into place which we believe will prevent a similar set of circumstances from causing a complete systemic failure capable of bringing a podcasting powerhouse such as Scott & Randy to it's knees. Please note that these new policies will not cost you the taxpayer any additional funds, and will require no government funding to accomplish.

Please look for our next show on September 15th. We look forward to being back with you then, bigger, better and stronger than ever.

Thank you for your continued support.

Icarus The Owl

Well, the show is up, maybe you already heard it. What a time we had with that. Allow me to explain. Joey, Mark and Mike came over and we were crackin' up and had a great conversation. It was pretty darn funny, they are a bunch of pretty cool guys. Their personalities are perfect for each other. Anyway, after everybody left, I went back into the studio and listened to it again just to crack up at it and ponder the editing process. At some point, I found myself nodding off, as it was rather late. At that time, I decided it would be best to shut 'er down as they say. So I began powering everything off. As I am powering off the recorder, the thought hits me that I did not save the data. OUCH! Lost everything.

So, the next morning I called up Scott and confessed my sins. He forgave me, and now I just had to convince the boys to come back over and do it all again! I lived with the pain of my error until like 2:30 in the afternoon when Joey finally returned my call. It seems musicians are on a different time schedule than yours truly. At any rate, I told him what happened, took my verbal beating (not really) and bribed them to come back with Papa John's pizza.

The second time was a charm, procedures were followed to assure that dorko me would not lose the data, and it all went off without a hitch. The resultant show is now posted for your listening pleasure. Their cd The Spotless Mind is a pretty tasty collection of tunes. You'll enjoy a few of them sprinkled throughout the interview.

Give it a listen, send us your feedback at podcast@scottandrandy.com

See ya soon! (I think we are going to be giving away a few cd's, stay tuned, we'll tell you how to get 'em)

Wow, well, just got done editing our conversation with Colin Lake. Great conversation, great music. You guys are really in for a treat. This is stuff you won't hear anywhere else. I can tell you this much, the show is going to run overtime because there was just too much good stuff. You'll enjoy all of his stories, he even drops a personal scoop on ya.
