A Letter from Scott & Randy

Dear Listeners, (and The Family and Friends of Our Listeners), (and their friends and family and so forth and so on, etc. etc. ad infinitum),

First of all, we would like to thank you for your support of the musical community here in Portland, being a part of Scott & Randy - The Podcast, and helping us get launched in the right direction. Without you taking a chance on us, we would not have been able to take this chance ourselves. The consistently high level of talent we have been able to feature on the program has been invaluable in providing legitimacy to what we are trying to do, as well as providing listeners like you with an internet program where you know you are going to receive a quality product each and every time you listen. And without a quality product, we would not be able to grow our listener base and achieve our goal of providing enhanced exposure to the musicians and music community here in Portland.

As you know, Scott & Randy - The Podcast was an idea conceived several months ago with the goal of providing local, national, and worldwide new media exposure to the immense wealth of musical talent we have here in Portland. It is our belief that the bevy of world-class talent that calls Portland home is far greater than most people would believe. Our job as podcasters and pioneers in this new media is to enlighten the world as to what we have here. We believe that it is good for Portland, and ultimately and most importantly good for local musicians and our local musical community in general. If we can do our part to generate excitement about music here in town, it will in turn provide more avenues and opportunities for the artists, and enrich all of our lives. This is our sincere hope.

The response we have had to the show has been one of welcome. From the beginning it seemed as though everybody we presented the idea to liked it and thought it was a great cause. The feedback we have received has been very positive and our listener numbers continue to grow. As the listener base grows, so to does the exposure we are able to give these musical artists. This is the reason we are writing you this letter at this time.

We have just recently been made aware that the Third Annual Portland Music Awards are in the nomination and voting phase. This voting window opened on October 1st, and runs only until November 15th. Scott & Randy - The Podcast wants your vote. And the votes of your family, friends, fans etc. Since podcasting is still referred to as new media, and since there is no other show like ours, who's sole focus is to advance the careers of local musicians and the local music scene in general, we are somewhat pioneers in this area. Scott & Randy - The Podcast is entirely self funded, self produced, self promoted. We built and maintain a high quality website that continues to grow as a musical and informational archive and resource. It is a solely focused labor of love.

For this reason, we ask for your vote in the “Pioneer Award” category. Please write in "Scott & Randy - The Podcast". And we also ask that you use your networking capability to request your friends and family to also vote for us. Granted, it is a grass roots effort, but it is an important one, and one that can ultimately help us all in our effort to make Portland an even better place to live and strengthen our musical community.

To be honest, we really do not expect to win the category. There are people with long careers here in Portland making a difference. But just to be nominated or mentioned among these great nominees would provide our show quite a large amount of additional exposure which will be good for all while providing us with the feeling that we are truly doing something valuable and making a positive contribution to our great music community.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you very much for your consideration in this matter. We truly appreciate it. The link to the voting page is provided below.
